Patna. The Bihar rural development department has decided to construct one million private toilets in each of the houses under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY). This was announced by rural development department minister Nitish Mishra in the assembly on Tuesday.
Presenting the annual budgetary demands of his department, Mishra said Rs. 5,400 would be spent on each of the houses for toilets under the MNREGA and additionally Rs. 4,600 will be spent per unit under the Nirmal Bharat campaign for creating hygienic atmosphere in the village. The government will also give Rs. 2000 as incentive to each Mahadalit family for completion of their respective houses.
