Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Ajay Bishnoi has said that animal shelters will be opened in all urban bodies of the state to give proper treatment to the animals injured in road accidents. The urban bodies will run these animal shelters.
The minister was addressing a function organised after performing Bhoomi Pujan to construct animal shelter at a cost of Rs 25 lakh in the veterinary hospital premises in Jehangirabad here on Saturday.
Mr Bishnoi said that giving treatment to animals injured in road accidents in the urban bodies is a challenging work. If any of the urban bodies sends a proposal to open animal shelters the Animal Husbandry Department will give all possible assistance. But the urban bodies will have to run the animal shelters themselves, he said.
So far the injured animals in Bhopal were treated at the animal shelter situated at Kotra Sultanabad. There was no full facility to treat the animals there. Therefore, it was decided to start animal shelter at the veterinary hospital premises.
He said that facilities like sonography, pathology test etc is available at the veterinary hospital.
Mr Bishnoi said that lift vehicle will be provided to the State Veterinary Hospital to bring the injured animals to the shelter.
Treatment facilities are available at the state veterinary hospital round-the-clock, he added.
